I’ve heard good things about Host Gator. I use dreamhost myself, which was great up until recently.
DH has had a lot of down time issues…. my server lagged for 3 days straight until they fixed the problem.
So, I’d honestly avoid DH for a little bit, until they fix some bugs.

You’ve made a really good point about ‘downtime’.

A lot of the big name hosting providers will offer 99.9% uptime which is very good, however I have discovered one that promised 100% uptime, quite a boast!

For good service is important to investigate. Support is the most important.
