It is widely known that we are facing global climate change. It makes an increasing awareness of sustainable environment and efficient power consumption. This awareness should be built since he early age. For adult people like us, it is easy to understand about energy efficiency and its contribution for environment sustainability. But it could be complicated enough for our children.
Now, you will easily explain energy efficiency to your kids in a fun way. You can teach your kids to more appreciate the value of power using power hog. This future gadget is a power metering piggy bank in literally piggy shape. It is like a combination of a piggy bank with a saving box. Using the Power-Hog, your kids should enter a coin to get a 30 minutes power supply. Kids could plug any devices such as computer, game console or television. After 30 minutes, the power will be cut off and they need to reload another coin to continue the power supply.
Power-Hog is designed by Mathieu Zastawny and friends for 2008 Greener Gadgets Conference’s design competition. Their brilliant concept is to teach the value of electricity power and amount of money they spend for it. They hope it could build the awareness of energy efficiency and money saving habit for children. This concept is hailed by the judge who awarded them with the Second Prize.
